[ Things have finally gotten back to normal, at least a little, since Ren came back. Elaine didn't ask him too much about what happened, only told him her real name and given him some space to breathe when it was clear that the shock of pretty much everything would take some time to wear off. Sure, he'd stopped smoking, but that wasn't enough to make up for everything he had to go through.
So when he'd told her that is adopted sort-of son was coming to visit, she figured that she might as well welcome him in.
There's a tray of cookies in the oven and a tea kettle on the stove when she answers the door. She's wearing something simple- just one of her metal band T-shirt DIY projects and some mom jeans and slippers. She's blissfully unaware of the sketches Ren did that one week that Goro was privy to. ]
[ It's fine, it's fine! I mean, Ren's got one hell of an accent himself, she's used to it.
Once he comes right in, he'll observe a few things: a very comfy-looking sectional sofa, the presence of BLANKET FORTS EVERYWHERE in the living room, and a shoe rack in the doorway that not only has adult-sized shoes, but a few pairs of kids' shoes in a disparity of sizes. There's also a soccer ball and several plastic buckets stacked right next to said shoe rack.
A small boy of about five or so is watching a cartoon on TV. He doesn't look like Elaine or Ren. ]
...stop that.
[ Whoops, looks like that kindergartener was, in fact, just a very convincingly disguised Zorua. After it morphs back into its usual foxy form and skedaddles, Elaine laughs a bit. ]
Oh, they do that a lot when I've got company over. Make yourself at home, Goro, I've got some tea going.
[Well, shoe rack means it would be rude to keep his shoes on, right? Give him a...moment...to pull those knee-high boots off. He sets them on top of the shoe rack, just in time to see the Zorua change back to its normal shape. Evidently, he finds the disguise pretty amusing...though the magpie that followed him in on a lead squawks in surprised confusion.]
[ Zorua tend to do that a lot. 'Course, they haven't really mastered their illusion abilities to the point where they can talk, but you've gotta give them an A for effort. ]
-oh, hold on a moment.
[ She's gonna dip into the kitchen for a second, then return with a plate full of cookies. They're those jam thumbprint ones in two flavors: strawberry and... gray mystery fruit? It's Enigma berry, which probably tastes like a spicy Mystery Squeezit. It's not wrong, it's my headcanon. ]
Aaaaand I should probably get something for this cutie over here - [ she gestures at the bird. ] Can I get you anything to drink?
That won't be necessary, I can provide my own drinks. I hope you don't mind if I help myself to one of these, though.
[He reaches for a cookie at random, and tosses one of the gray mystery cookies into his mouth. A second later, his eyes go wide and he covers his mouth, trying not to make pathetic noises as his face turns bright red.]

Come right in, sweet pea.

[His words have a heavy Kanto accent, but not to the point of being difficult to understand. He smiles and gives a slight bow before stepping inside.]
It's nice to finally meet you in person.

Let's get you some milk.
[She returns with a glass of milk, which is probably going to taste alright but still slightly different from anything Goro's ever drunk.
Then goes back into the kitchen when she sees someone in the hallway and brings out another, tinier milk in a plastic cup.
The bitty shoves a gray jam cookie into her mouth and looks at Goro curiously.]
